Miallegro 1780 Tower Fan, Sophisticated Brushed Metal with Remote Control Miallegro 1780 Tower Fan, Sophisticated Brushed Metal with Remote Control

Reviews

Whilst American's come to Canada for the healthcare, Canadian's come to America for the sweet Miallegro fans. Ordered and sent to a mailbox, came on time as promised, and the product is exactly as listed. It's one of the slickest fans I have ever seen. The one thing that I was uncertain about from the description was the black portion between the brushed metal - it's plastic, not steel as it may appear to some. Fairly quiet and performs fan stuff, as expected. I wouldn't usually write a review, but Miallegro actually called me a few days after I had received the fan to ask if I was satisfied with the product and see if there was anything they could help me with. Superb customer service! I hold their products and customer care in high esteem and will certainly buy from them again. John

I bought this fan to cool down my office since the sun tends to bake it in the afternoon. So far, I've really liked its functionality and design. It does a great job of pushing lots of air and goes well with a modern interior. It doesn't blow air high up, but for an office or living room it's fine since you want the air lower anyways. One feature that I really like is the timer - I forget to turn it off at the end of the day, but I can set the timer in the morning to shut off after 8 hours.

Miallegro 1760 Air Ionizer Tower Fan with Remote Control (Oscillates internally) Miallegro 1760 Air Ionizer Tower Fan with Remote Control (Oscillates internally)

The Miallegro super exceeded my expectations. I expected it to blow hot air like a regular fan. Instead, it cools the room extremely fast, it takes up very little space and the remote control is truly impressive. I really like that it is very quiet too. I plan on buying two more for my friends and family, because it is going to save us a lot of money during the hot summer months. (It's like a miniature a/c unit without the bulky, water-dripping unit hanging out of a window!)

I purchased this fan to replace one that finally failed that I used beside my bed while sleeping. I recieved and easily assembled the fan, turned it on, and barely heard a sound. I put my hand up to it and felt the breeze and was excited! My excitement went away quickly as it began to make a clicking sound... I turned it off, back on... clicking. I turned it upside down and shook it... clicking sounds. So I returned it (the seller was wonderful) and received a new one, days later. Took it out of the box but didnt assemble it and heard something rattle inside. I tilted it and saw a white plastic dowel rolling around in it. I dumped it out and plugged in the fan which then make a clicking sound immediately - different than the first but clicking loudly. So I'm returning them both for a refund.

Best part is the whole body does not rotate. First I thought the rotation feature does not work. But once I found out it rotates internally, I thought it was innovative.

So initially I had bought this unit and had a bad experience with it. It had just stopped working after a couple of weeks. Surprisingly enough Miallegro is pro-active in helping their customers. They replaced it and shipped it for free. Not only that, but their customer service is actually polite. As we all know, lots of companies have rude customer service. I just had to get that out of the way in case any of you have issues with your fan. Now onto my review of the product. I was looking for this particular type of fan because the fans that oscillate the entire tower always end up giving me problems. With the inner oscillation, I find it to be more reliable. This 2nd unit has been just that. Also the fan is rather quiet on the low setting. The medium and high settings on the fan move a large amount of air without the annoying loudness that most fans have. Unless you're a light sleeper, you'll be able to sleep with this on. If you have issues with limited floorspace, you'll be pleased to know that this fan takes up an extremely small amount of space for the job it does. Lastly, this fan just looks cool. It's sleek, has that l.e.d. display, and the display slides back to reveal the remote's location. Overall I'd have to say that I'm quite pleased with this fan. It does the job it's designed to do and it does it well. For being a brand that isn't as well-known as the major brands, in my case it stands above them.

8,000 BTU Mid-Size Comfort Touch Air Conditioner 8,000 BTU Mid-Size Comfort Touch Air Conditioner

I have the AF-S85PX which is basically the same. It is also 8000 BTU. Mine has a remote. Controls are 3 fan speeds, timer when off counts down to turning it on. Timer when on, counts down to when it goes off. It displays a thermometer when on fan only. It displays thermostat setting when on cool mode. The autocool feature is a self-adjusting fan speed, which I have not yet used. There is an energy save mode I haven't used yet either. The unit itself is 18.5" wide X 12" high X 16.5" front to back. These dimensions in Amazon seem like a misprint. [...]. This is a very good air conditioner and has the basic features, no frills. I got two for the living area of a small conventional 1970s era single floor apartment with a combined kitchen and living room with the hot water tank in the middle island closet the living room and kitchen, about 500 square feet in those two room areas. The water tank adds a lot of heat to the area. The apartment is insulated walls and ceiling with rock wool. We also use outside bamboo curtains, and half of the kitchen living room roof is shaded by a tree most of the day. If nobody is opening doors and nobody is cooking, and I put it on when it first gets hot, one of them alone will almost do the whole house, and even keep the bedrooms bearable, if there are no people, lights or computers running - even when it hits low 90s. But it is nice to have two because they are kind of loud. If we are in the kitchen we put the living room one on, and vice versa. It is the fan that makes most of the noise, but it does blow about twenty feet or so. It is also the highest rated in energy efficiency in its class. I think it is 10.8 EER, 740 Watts/ 7.1 Amps. On the outside the noise is not bad. I don't worry about my neighbors complaining about the noise. We got one of those $99, 5,000 BTU units for one of the bedrooms, and this 8,000 BTU Sharp seems about 4X (four fold) more powerful, but was only $90 more. You can feel the room start to cool immediately. We put both 8,000 BTU Sharps on when we cook on a hot day, or just the kitchen one when not-so-hot day cooking. The materials they used to make it was surprisingly very non-toxic, and there is was no vinyl or plastic smell ever. The very little bit of the fumigant you find in all imported products (they are all made in China) now) we easily washed off and blew out within a few minutes. Most of the fumigant odor was in the packaging. The packaging was excellent, very sturdy with plenty of cushioning and highly resilent dense padding and foam rubber. The side panels for window installation are not held on by screws. They used tabs, as many do nowadays. I did not use the panels. I have sideway sliding sash windows so I mounted the unit with select pine on each side and plexiglas on top. With no screw holes on the side, I bent out one of the two tabs (there's three pairs on each side) and I used 1" x 1" x 1/8"-thick aluminum bar which slid in tightly. I punched holes into one side of the aluminum bar and screwed it into the select pine. I put a piece of plywood under it and screwed a 1" x 2" piece of wood across the underside of the plywood. That 1 x 2 fit in on the window sill between the inside aluminum window tracks and the storm window tracks. So there was no weight on the tracks.

I have a Sharp Library Quiet A/C and it's so noisy I have to turn it off to listen to the television. I don't recommend it. If you buy cheap, you get cheap.

I can strongly recommend the Sharp Library Quiet Window Air Condtioners. They are excellent quality, quiet, durable and easy-to-use. I have three of them so I speak with experience. The fan has 3 speeds and the temperature control is digital. The unit even has a remote control, but I have never even used it. I just set the temperature at about 73 degrees and the air conditioner takes care of everything. The Sharp Window Air Condtioner is attractive, powerful and simple-to-use. The listing is for the 80DX. My units are 60DX which are 6,000 BTU. They are less powerful and more affordable than the 80DX listed selling at around $130. I have found that even the 60DX is quite powerful. One unit cools the kitchen and the dining room and has enough left over to take some of the heat out of the living room. My two other units are in two bedrooms. I only run one unit during the day and sometimes, but not always, use the bedroom units at night. The one unit is very easy on electricity.
