I love this lil powerhouse AC. We put this in our small office and it works like a charm. The energy rating on it is the best I have found. The features I like most are: 1) quiet running 2) I can keep on my computer and just click the remote--no getting up to adjust the settings 3) that yellow light to keep you on your toes cleaning the filter is GREAT! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a small window unit. We have had four in the past and this by far has been the best. Thanks Frigidaire and Amazon for keeping us cool and comfy in 100+ temps!

The Frigidaire FAA055P7A cools our bedroom well. We have a 1 1/2 story home, with our bedroom in the SW corner. . .so it gets quite warm. We turn the a/c on in the evening and let it cool the room from 90 ( estimated ) down to 70 at night. We use the "energy saver" function to keep the a/c from running constantly during the night. My only complaint would be the noise. Even on low speed, it's fairly noisy All in all, it's been a good value for the money for us.

So far, so good. I received my air conditioner about a month ago, after finding the lowest price at Amazon because of their free shipping! The unit is in my bedroom, and I'm obsessed with the remote and its sleep function, which automatically ups the temperature a few degrees over a few hours. Pure genius for when you crank that baby on at bedtime - wish we had that option with the unit in our living room. Then, I wouldn't have to turn it on and off to find a happy medium in temp. I had the same issues as a couple of users, nicks and dents in the unit and it's a bit noisy, but it's been running smoothly nonetheless.

Recently I purchased the Frigidaire Compact Small-Room Air Conditioner and although I have not yet received it I would like to write an overwhelmingly positive review about the third party seller of this product (Redeemair). During the shipping of my product there was some problems with UPS that resulted in me not getting my shipment. I emailed Redeemair and they called me back not two hours later to tell me that everything would be taken care of and that a new unit was on the way. I cannot stress enough what a pleasure it was working with this company.

Despite a lot of negative comments I read before purchasing, I bought this AC because of the great price. It was simple to install, does not sound like a freight train as was described by some, and does a fantastic job of cooling even when it's 100 degrees outside. Just make sure you get one large enough for the area you are cooling., I bought 4 units, 3 different sizes, and all work well in their respective area. Would probably be a good idea to buy 1 size larger than you think you need. I had them shipped overnight for an extra $3.99. Ordered at 3PM one day, were her the next morning at 10 AM. The freight would have been more than the purchase price at many places. I almost forgot.....one of my units had a compressor that was malfunctioning. I emailed Amazon and they shipped another out immediately that I received the next day. I installed it, put the old one back in the carton, and the UPS man came and picked it up. Very easy transaction, no questions asked, and I didn't have to pay for the new unit provided they received the old one back in a certain number of days. I love Amazon! (NOTE: I am using the same review for the 3 different sizes of ACs I purchased, 5000, 8000, and 10,000 BTUs, as they are almost identical in performance.)

I bought this product in the summer of 07. I live in a room over the garage that gets the brunt of the sun and therefor reaches 78-80 degrees even with the AC on. At first the unit after running for a couple hours would drop the temp to 72 on a summer day but no lower. The first spring/summer I did not have to change the water at all. The next spring/summer it could only drop the temp down to 73-74 and I had to change the water 5-6 times. Now only less than 3 years later we are in the midst of our first 80 degree week. The unit is only dropping the temp to 75 and I've had to change the water twice in two days. Please read everyone's review about how hard it is to change the water. I can confirm every complaint. If I had to do it over I would have gone another route towards cooling my room.

I'am a certified EPA HVAC Tech that chooses A/C and Electronics as a hobby only because I make more income by other means and the reason why I bought this unit is strickly as a backup means for hurricane aftermath. I ran last night to mimic hurricane scenario and was disappointed at performance keep in mind my room is 15X15= 225sq.ft. I purchased 12000 BTU unit should be kicking a** but doesn't :( PROS mobility remote control plug into any 120v outlet removes much hummidty Cons Somewhat noisey but acceptable just need to crank TV volume Doesn't really drop temp much for size of room Room temp at start 78Deg will not drop lower than 75Deg sad Bad performance if looking for permanent solution

I bought this unit in June 06, so I'm on my 3rd year of almost constant summer usage. The unit is a little noisy (about the loudness of some fans set to their highest setting), but that doesn't really bother me because it cools the room like it is supposed to, and I hate heat more than noise :). This is the first year that I've had to empty the tank. It actually leaked a little, but since it wasn't on a carpet, that was ok. My bad, because it does say to empty it occassionally, and I was just being lazy. The rubber plug was a little confusing at first (I couldn't tell if I needed pliers to unscrew it, or just my fingers to pull it out), but I finally realized that it was "plug like" (i.e., just needed my fingers to pull it out of the pipe) rather than an "outside cap" type that needed to be unscrewed. The area that it is cooling includes my dining area, living room, and small kitchen. I keep the downstairs bathroom door closed, as well as the doors to the two rooms off of the staircase leading upstairs, so it's probably cooling about 450 sq feet. I placed a small fan between the dining and living room area to help "push" the cool air into the living room since there is a wall that blocks some of the flow. I bought a second unit for my brother in 07, and it also works well for him.

I've had this Sunpentown portable AC for nearly 2 summers and so far I have no complaints. It has worked flawlessly. My family and I live in a 2nd floor apartment unit that bakes during summer days, and the walls radiate heat well into the night, so having an AC running in the bedroom at night is a must in order to sleep comfortably. Initially, we tried running it in our living room area (which includes the kitchen) during daytime hours, however this is just too small of a unit to be very affective in that large an area (again, where the walls radiate the suns heat). It took a little bit of the edge off, and if you are sitting immediately in front, it does feel good (like the AC in a vehicle). Alas, we keep it in the bedroom and turn it on in the late afternoon. By 9pm it's cooled comfortably. Emptying out the water tank can be a little bit of a challenge since the spout is so low to the ground -- I usually use a shallow cookie tray or muffin tin (rinsed thoroughly afterards) to collect the water. But I seldom have to empty it -- once every month or so. I actually appreciate the "noise" that the compressor makes when it's on -- white noise helps me sleep. I feel quite confident in Sunpentown, and if I'm in the market for another AC, I'll look to them first.

I bought this two years ago when my wife was pregnant and we were having record heat waves and we were without A?C. It did the trick and two years later it still works like a champ. Haven't had any of the issues others posted about. This brings nice cool air into my room and shortly after I turn it on, about 20 min. the room is as cool as I want it. Good Luck!

We bought model DDR3008EE in 6/08. It worked well at first, but in Fall 2008 ate a lot of power, and its anti-icing function appeared to stop working. We didn't use it over the winter. We turned it on in 7/09 and found its coils would not cool. Other than the fan blowing air, it was totally non-functional. A local shop confirmed that the coolant had leaked out. It took many calls to Danby just to finally get a human being instead of a machine. The man told me Danby couldn't help us as the 1 year warranty had run out. We paid $242 for this piece of junk. We won't ever buy a Danby product again.

This seems like a reasonable unit, but I bought it primarily for the low-noise and power saving claims, but I find that the fan runs continuously, meaning continuous noise and power usage. Several other Units I have had in this usage run 1-2 hours/day, so are significantly better. I liked its adjustable hygrometer (30-90%), but am returning it for a unit with auto-shut-off.
