Got this to cool my bedroom, because if it gets windy I can't open the window unless I want the wind to take it lol. Added some water, tray of ice and it got the job done fast and nice. When I am not using water, I pop a ice pack on the top compartment and it still cools the bedroom just as good :)

side by side with a fan showed no output difference. loaded up with ice and water and noticed very little difference. Wish I had returned it within the 30 day period. Oh well it is a quiet fan

This is a great little machine that even an old lady can operate! Here in the Southwest corner of the US our temps can reach 110, as they did a week ago. The little Sunpentown was steadily pumping 67 degree air into our living room. We use the Sunpentown as a "crutch" to our 4 ton A/C, running them both at the same time. With the Sunpentown, however, the A/C cycles off and stays off for longer periods of time, saving us lots of dough all the while! If you live in an area where humidity runs 50% or less, this will be effective in your home.

This is a great little cooler that will cool down a small to medium size room. It is quiet, small, making it easy to roll around. There is even a compartment for ice cubes, should you desire to use them. We used them - just to check it out - and it cooled the room even more. Overall, it is quiet, efficient, easy to maneuver and affordable.

Save your money. The only possible cooling you may get from this unit is if you have a refrigerator carton you can get in, (ask your kids) and take this "cooler" with you. This unit would benefit greatly from liquid nitrogen cooling. Of the two units, only one arrived undamaged. The unit is fairly quiet, except when the 'SWEEP' is turned on. Then, it sounds like someone in the room rocking on an old rocking chair.

I live in Nevada; temps rise to 116. To help with energy savings of the AC, installed insulation in garage door. Use this swamp cooler to cut down on the heat in the garage, which keeps the house cooler where we spend most of our days. A larger model might have been better, but this model uses less energy.

For everyday use it makes a great fan and air ionizer/cleaner. It has an oscillating fan which you can direct up or down as it swings left and right to blow air all around the room. And it really helps on hot days if you add ice or cold water and turn on the Cool-Air function. It also comes with a full-function remote which comes in real handy. Best of all it doesn't use much energy to operate. You can't really go wrong with this cooler for the price.

To be fair, the product does not claim to be an air conditioner. However, it does claim to cool 12 degrees cooler, which I didn't find at all. I live in a dry Colorado climate, and still it is barely cooler than a fan. You have to fill it with tons of ice to even get that, and it requires refilling with water and ice often. If you don't clean it at least once a week, it starts smelling really bad. All this effort of refilling and cleaning is not worth the 3 to 5 degrees cooler you get. For that, I'd rather just plug in a fan and not have to worry about it every day. Save your money and buy a portable air conditioner. It's worth the extra investment, trust me.

Wouldn't recommend this product. When I got this cooler the remote was already dead, the on/off button wouldn't work! It doesn't really cool the air that much. I have an older (10-year old) air cooler that I use at home which cooled my room better! Don't waste your money on this product! Total garbage!

My friend has this item. She showed me how to use it and it works incredibly well. I bought one and love it!! I then bought one for my sister who lives in Hawaii. They are shipping it to her for free!! Unheard of shipping to Hawaii let alone free! It really cools the air and is light and easy to move. You just put these cooling things in the freezer and add cold water. It does the rest! You will love it!!

The product did not cool the air. It was just a fan. I called the service number to see if I was doing something wrong. I never was able to reach a person. I emailed the company and they never returned my call. I returned the product and got full credit.

I purchased this a few weeks ago and it works great, it is a great humidifier and when we use it as a cooler to cool the room it works great..I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for something to use in a small room.

The Whirwind is the proper name for this great apparatus. I live in am apartment in a old building. I love the place, but the only thing that gets bad is the summer weather. I can't install an air conditioner, so I bought this machine. It worked pefectly! It is definitely an air cooler, and with that great price, a must for any budget.

Low price but it looks pretty slick. Great remote that sticks to the side of the unit with a magnet. Let me just say, I have had this air cooler for 5 years now. Used virtually every day for hours at a time during summer and it still works nicely, every single function. Very effective heater in winter. As it's gotten older, it has to sort of warm up longer and longer till the fan slowly gets up to full speed... Odd. But apart from that as long as you keep the removable air filter clean (just rinse it) it does everything remarkably well. I cannot recommend this enough. Keep in mind it's NOT an air conditioner, it doesn't have a huge effect on the temperature even with the frozen bits. In fact, living about 150 yards from the shoreline, on a hot humid day the added humidity can actually make you feel hotter. This is the same for any evaporative cooler however so I certainly can't lover the rating for it.

We love our new swamp cooler! It is effective, pleasant and easy to use. It has totally saved us during recent heatwaves in our S.Californian valley. The only downside was a sour smell after a couple of weeks' use, although we were changing the water regularly. When I contacted the company, they suggested adding some dish soap. This didn't work, but then we stumbled on the solution- adding baking soda to the water. This has proved very effective.

I bought this for my apartment that does not have an air conditioner or the ability to put in a window one either. We only receive about 3 months of hot weather so I figured the air cooler would be enough to balance it out. It works really well, I enjoy the timer, and the water is usually still halfway fool after a nights sleep. I can notice a change in the air quality in the room when I am using it, and I also enjoy the air cooler if only for the humidifier effects. I am going to be moving soon into a new apartment with an air conditioner but I still plan on using the air cooler mainly for the fan, purifier, and humidifier benefits. Works well, I simply put in ice rather than using the ice packs though...

Really helps with my sleep apnea. Making good use of the various times so I can set it for a nap or a full night's sleep. The Unistar 4 in 1 air cooler is a product I'll use year round.

This was a waste of money if you are really hot. I live in TX and my Central AC went out and I was looking for a solution to make it through the last month of summer. I bought this for my 11 year olds room - he can barely feel the air even when he is sitting right in front of it with water and ice in it!! A box fan would have worked better.

Broke after the third day of having it. it'll blow some cool air, but it's a waste of time putting ice in it because there is no difference in the temp of the air it blows. got it plugged in right now, it's blowing cool air right now. but other than that, it dont work.

I bought this little unit for my office desk, which is in a completely mirrored and barely insulated building, giving it the "ant in magnifying glass" effect in the afternoons. It gets up into the 90's in here in the afternoon and I was going home with clothes wet from sweat every day. I bought this unit for just my desk, which is in a large open area, knowing that it wouldn't make a difference in the whole room but hoping it would just keep me personally from sweating. It does a wonderful job, even being in Alabama, where you'd think adding humidity to the air would be a no-no. It seems like once it gets as humid as it is here, though, this thing could no more humidify this room than it could cool the whole thing. Anyway, I find that techni-ice packs, which you can also get on Amazon, work best with it. They last all afternoon so I just have to refill the water once but can keep the same ice packs. Last but not least, Kaito was great to work with. Great customer service, fast delivery, and when the ice packs were missing with the original order, they sent them priority with no questions asked. I was very satisfied with my purchase of the Unistar 4-in-1 desktop fan/cooler/humidifier/ionic air purifier. The unit will hold up to three small dry ice packs. Two dry ice packs are included with the unit. The air cooling feature does not go on when using dry ice packs. The fan mode works with the dry ice packs. Putting water and ice in the reservoir cooled the air effectively with the cooling feature. The unit should not be expected to cool a large area. The oscillation feature is a big plus. I actually would have been too cool with the air flowing directly towards me in one direction.
